Coventry told to announce sacking after ‘horrific’ Lampard scenes v West Brom

Coventry City fans are furious after seeing Frank Lampard’s side lose 2-0 away to West Brom in the Championship on Wednesday night.

Alex Mowatt’s deflected first-half strike before a 74th-minute wonder goal by Karlan Grant meant Albion won for the first time in four games to return to the Championship play-off spots.

As for Lampard’s Coventry, they’re now 16th in the table and just four points ahead of Cardiff and Plymouth in the relegation zone.

Coventry fans outraged after defeat v West Brom

Lampard had overseen a decent start as Coventry manager, earning a draw against Cardiff before beating Millwall at the weekend. However, he’s now suffered his first defeat in charge of the Sky Blue – and also his first defeat to the Baggies in his managerial career.

But even though Albion have lacked a cutting edge in the last few months, the Black Country club was still the favourites to win on Wednesday night.

Nobody seemed to tell Coventry fans that though with many of their supporters taking to social media to demand head of recruitment Dean Austin be sacked by the board for his terrible dealings in the transfer market this year.

Here is a selection of their posts:

West Brom are away at Watford in their next Championship clash.

Carlos Corberan’s side head to Vicarage Road without a win at the Hertfordshire club’s ground since 2007 when Ishmael Miller, Kevin Phillips and Martin Albrechtsen were all on the scoresheet.

Coventry, on the other hand, are at home against struggling Hull, who drew with Watford on Wednesday night.

In other West Brom news, Curtis Davies says what Corberan did against Coventry “stinks”.
