Danny Mills makes unexpected West Brom promotion prediction live on talkSPORT

Danny Mills believes West Brom are a Championship “dark horse” regardless of their recent form.

The Baggies have won just one of their last 11 games, drawing the other ten in an unbeaten run-stretching back to October.

This run has seen Carlos Corberan’s side drop to eighth in the table but Mills still sees Albion finishing in the top six this campaign.

Speaking live on talkSPORT 2 (10 December, 8:13pm), he said: “West Brom could be a dark horse to get into the play-offs.

“I know they’ve drawn an awful lot of games of late but there aren’t many spots available if you look at the table as it stands at the moment. Can I see Bristol City, Norwich or Sheffield Wednesday [getting into the playoffs]? no, not really.”

West Brom mooted as Championship playoff ‘dark horse’

It hasn’t been a classic season at The Hawthorns by any means, which is disappointing given how positive the start to the year was.

With Josh Maja and Tom Fellows in electric form, the Baggies burst out of the gates with five wins in their opening six games.

This level of performance has certainly slowed but Corberan’s side haven’t been bad enough to lose games, despite not being good enough to win them.

Draws against Sheffield United and Sunderland were positive results in their own right but failing to beat Preston North End angered supporters.

Despite going 1-0 up through an early Karlan Grant strike, Albion sat on the goal and looked to see out the win but this only lasted 42 minutes.

This sort of tactic needs to be changed but there is still every chance that this form can be turned around at The Hawthorns and draws can be turned to wins to help earn a positive finish at the end of the season.
