Ex-West Brom star spotted watching Academy showdown near his hometown

Former West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster was spotted watching the Academy match against Stratford Town on Tuesday.

The former Albion stopper is from Leamington Spa, which is just 13 miles away from the Arden Garages Stadium.

The young Baggies progressed to the third round of the Birmingham County Senior Cup with a 4-2 victory as Foster watched on [10 December, Stratford Town FC, X].

West Brom icon Foster is a worldwide star

Foster spent six seasons at The Hawthorns, making 223 appearances in all competitions for the club and is regarded as an icon in the Midlands.

He left the Baggies in 2018 after they were relegated from the Premier League and joined Watford, playing in the top-flight in three of his four seasons in his second spell at Vicarage Road.

Foster retired in September 2022 but reversed his decision in March 2023 to sign for National League club Wrexham.

He has since gone on to enjoy global fame after joining the Welsh side, who are owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, helping them to promotion to League Two.

He finally retired for good on 20 August 2023 and is now a podcaster and YouTube sensation with his Cycling GK channel having 1.47 million subscribers and his Fozcast channel having 259,000.

The 41-year-old is now firmly a worldwide icon, not just a Baggies one after the spotlight was placed on his stint at the Welsh club due to their mega-star owners.
