Palmer shines as 4/10 teammate struggles – West Brom player ratings v Coventry
West Brom secured their second win in 11 games as they played out a 2-0 win against Coventry City on Wednesday.
In a similar theme to recent weeks, the Baggies took the lead through Alex Mowatt before taking their foot off the gas going forward.
This allowed the away side to create chances of their own but Frank Lampard’s side weren’t able to take advantage before Karlan Grant scored to tie up the win for the Albion.
These three points have sent Carlos Corberan’s men into the top six once again, knocking Middlesbrough out of the playoff spots.
West Brom News rates the performance of each player out of 10.
Alex Palmer – 8
The 28-year-old made multiple key saves throughout the game and was arguably the most important player in a West Brom shirt.
Darnell Furlong – 6
Furlong was typically positive down the right flank but failed to truly make anything happen despite his best efforts.
Mason Holgate – 6
The loanee didn’t have much to do on the day but was solid at the back once again and looked positive with the ball at his feet.
Torbjorn Heggem – 6
It’s a similar story for the Norway international as his centre-back partner. Not very much to do throughout the clash but did what was needed when he was required.
Callum Styles – 6
Styles was energetic once again and looked comfortable but was another who truly failed to make anything happen going forward.
Tom Fellows – 6
The 21-year-old had a telling impact on Mowatt’s goal but this is where his impact truly ended. Another quiet night for the winger who will expect better from himself.
Alex Mowatt – 7
The ex-Leeds United man got on the scoresheet and put in another solid midfield performance. Mowatt could have done more defensively at times but going forward he obviously had a positive impact.
Jayson Molumby – 7
The Republic of Ireland international made up for his midfield partner’s shortfall defensively ith an industrious display. Good on the ball and front foot defending certainly had a positive impact in the middle of the park.
Karlan Grant shines again for West Brom v Coventry City
Mikey Johnston – 5
With Johnston on one wing and Fellows on the other, there wasn’t much creativity coming from out wide. There were some positive moments from the 25-year-old but he wasn’t providing them consistently.
Karlan Grant – 8
You have to feel sorry for Grant. Corberan asked him to play up front on his own in the second half, which isn’t his game. Not that he let this bother him, scoring an excellent solo goal to extend the Baggies’ lead in the second half. Top class.

Josh Maja – 4
The striker had very little impact in the opening 45 and then was removed from the game at half time by Corberan in bizarre circumstances. A night to forget for Maja.
Substitutes
John Swift – 5
Kyle Bartley – 5
Jed Wallace – 5
Lewis Dobbin – 5
Uros Racic – N/A
In other West Brom news, Coventry fans rattled The Hawthorns with a chant about Brandon Thomas-Asante.
