West Brom fans should be gutted Diangana is nowhere to be seen v Coventry

West Brom remain without a primary source of potent attacking power as Grady Diangana misses his fourth straight game against Coventry City.

Carlos Corberan named his Albion team to take on Frank Lampard’s men at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night and was once again revealed to be without Diangana, who last featured away at Hull City [10 November] before sustaining a calf injury.

Dr Rajpal Brar admitted [3 December] that it could “take some time” for the winger to make a full recovery, with Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston again deployed on their respective flanks against Coventry.

Grady Diangana unable to get consistent run going for West Brom

Diangana will be as frustrated as anyone of a West Brom persuasion – he missed the entirety of pre-season, after remaining on the bench in DR Congo’s summer World Cup qualifiers.

Upon his return, his leg injury struggles saw him unable to play more than a couple of substitute cameos in a row before another setback.

Diangana was a regular as the Baggies consolidated a play-off place in the Championship last season, but was unable to build on it while on the sidelines and while competing with significant competition, has only had a smattering of appearances.

In fact, the 26-year-old has only started five league games so far this season, and has not completed an entire game.

Diangana possesses a certain threat in possession that is different to the other firepower Corberan boasts.

And with Albion having incredibly drawn 10 of their last 11 matches, that lack of cutting edge is very feasibly an issue a fit and firing Diangana would solve.

Baggies fans should be gutted he’s missing from the team tonight.
