Corberan could regret taking risk as West Brom XI v Watford confirmed

Carlos Corberan could regret dropping Alex Mowatt from his West Brom starting XI against Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday.

The Spaniard has made two changes to the team that beat Coventry City 2-0 at The Hawthorns on Wednesday (11 December).

While Uros Racic has been named in the lineup in Mowatt’s place, Mikey Johnston has dropped to the bench for Kyle Bartley.

The changes see Torbjorn Heggem and Callum Styles move back to left-back and left-midfield respectively.

Corberan could regret Mowatt call in Watford v West Brom

Dropping Mowatt to the bench is a huge call from Corberan considering the 29-year-old scored in the Baggies’ victory over Coventry.

Having scored his first Championship goal since September, the midfielder would have been determined to add more to his tally at Vicarage Road.

This is only the second time Mowatt has not started a league game for the West Midlands outfit this season and, in a way, it is easy to see why the Spaniard has made the decision.

However, having won only one of their last five games, he could have prioritised building on the victory on Wednesday by naming his best starting XI with Mowatt.

Meanwhile, Alex Palmer continues in goal with Barley and Mason Holgate playing ahead of him. Heggem starts at left-back, while Darnell Furlong operates on the other side.

Racic plays alongside Jayson Molumby in the middle of the park, with Styles and Tom Fellows playing on either side.

Karlan Grant and Josh Maja lead the line in a two-man attack.
