Southampton fans react to Corberan news at West Brom – ‘Liquidate the club now’
Southampton fans are divided in their reaction to the news that West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is a target.
Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam posted on X [17 December] crediting Rob Dorsett, that Corberan was on the shortlist for the Saints job with former Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand and another foreign manager.
Russell Martin was sacked following the 5-0 loss to Tottenham (15 December) with the Saints sitting bottom of the Premier League, nine points from safety.
However, the fanbase is split over whether the club should appoint Corberan as Martin’s successor.
Southampton fans divided on West Brom boss Corberan
Some Saints fans were exciting by the potential appointment, with one supporter commenting in a post on X, saying: “Carlos Corberan is really good manager. Organises a team well, plays good football, I’m all for it.”
Another agreed with that sentiment, saying: “Surprised at the reaction to Corberan being linked. Would personally be quite happy with him as a replacement.”
However, another disagreed commenting: “Don’t fancy Corberan personally. Martin had the beating of him.”
That mixed reaction is very similar to the Baggies fanbase right now, some supporters would like Corberan to go but others would like him to stay.
The criticism is understandable, his side have won just two of their last 13 matches, however, Albion fans must remember he turned the club from relegation candidates into playoff contenders.
The Baggies are eighth in the Championship, just two points off of the playoff places with a considerable amount of the season left to play, there is plenty of time for Corberan to make things right if he stays.
