Grady Diangana injury update emerges at West Brom with new tests ready

West Brom will give Grady Diangana another chance to prove his fitness before facing Bristol City on 22 December, according to Express and Star.

The newspaper reported on 18 December that having missed the last six games, Diangana will have further fitness tests having not quite been ready to be named in the squad at Watford.

Diangana’s issues have been a cause of frustration for the Baggies, with an initial diagnosis showing no injury being present before a specialist confirmed damage near the nerve of his calf muscle.

West Brom can’t rush Grady Diangana back to fitness

There’s no denying that when fit and on form, Diangana can be one of the most dangerous attacking forces in the Championship, let alone a key member of Albion’s promotion-chasing squad.

However, his standing in the pecking order under Carlos Corberan will have certainly slipped in a season beset by several setbacks, having been plagued with injuries from the very start of the summer.

Diangana’s calf first flared up during pre-season and he missed the opening games of the campaign with two separate shoulder problems, as the Congolese international has started just five of 21 games so far.

He’s been restricted to another mere seven off the bench this term, and with Albion having lost their first match in 13 at Vicarage Road against Watford, fans will be hoping he can return to fitness this weekend.

Facing mid-table Bristol City not only gives the Baggies a chance to return to winning ways but for Diangana to be coaxed back into first-team contention and hopefully put his calf issues behind him.
