Carlos Corberan has silenced his West Brom doubters by revealing the issues he has faced since he arrived at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies have faced financial restrictions as a result of Guochuan Lai's mismanagement before Shilen Patel's takeover.

They were placed under an EFL-imposed business plan in August as they risked a potential PSR breach [Rob Dorsett, Sky Sports] and were forced to sell the likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante and Okay Yokuslu.

Reflecting on those issues, the Spaniard said as quoted by the Express and Star: "Shilen's project couldn't be there, probably, because we had to decrease 30 per cent the size of the group. So we reduced 30 per cent, in terms of the salary, from the squad that made the play-offs, to face the season.

"We knew what our market was and the club did a very good effort to create the most competitive squad we could."

West Brom supporters should give Corberan time

Baggies supporters should give the Spaniard time to turn things around at the Hawthorns.

Some sections of the fanbase have turned against the manager after a run of just two wins in their last 13 matches.

However, it is important to remember that Corberan has taken the club from the relegation zone to playoff contenders since his appointment.

As a result, he has been linked with vacancies at Premier League clubs, such as Leicester, Wolves and Southampton.

Given the hardships that he has faced since he took over Albion, fans should give Corberan a bit more leeway.

He is the right man to lead the club forward and supporters should wait until the financial shackles are off to judge him fairly.
