West Brom forward sends message as Dele Alli transfer news emerges

West Brom star Lewis Dobbin has sent a message to Dele Alli following the midfielder’s social media post that is to explore a move away from Everton.

The Baggies loanee has responded to former Everton teammate Dele, who has shared an update on Instagram [20 December] to inform supporters he is seeking “new opportunities” in 2025.

Dobbin and Dele played together at Goodison Park when the latter arrived in 2022, before the forward moved to Aston Villa and subsequently on loan to The Hawthorns.

It could well transpire that Dobbin returns early to Villa Park, having so far failed to score during his loan spell with Carlos Corberan’s side [DOOD on X, 18 December].

Underneath Dele’s statement, captioned with “Thank you, Everton,” Dobbin responded with a white heart emoji to show his support.

West Brom could reassess forward options in January

With Dobbin potentially considered for a return to Aston Villa, a loan slot would be opened up for Corberan and the hierarchy to consider.

The loan market is hugely important in January to Championship sides, with any Premier League teams taking early exits from the FA Cup potentially ready to cut loose with fringe stars either permanently or on loan.

Dobbin has not been able to settle since leaving Everton, with Tim Iroegbunam going the other way to Goodison from Villa Park in a deal some fans have attributed to working around PSR criteria.

The 21-year-old was sent across to The Hawthorns a matter of weeks later without having debuted for Unai Emery’s team, and despite making 16 appearances so far in all competitions and seen his form gradually rise, has not yet got off the mark.

With Karlan Grant in superb form and the likes of Josh Maja, Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston around the place, it was always going to be an uphill battle for Dobbin to become a regular starter.

As for Dele, once considered to be in the world-class category during his years at Tottenham Hotspur, fans will eagerly await his next move and whether he can revive his career.
