Carlos Corberan West Brom exit could be confirmed in hours

Carlos Corberan’s West Brom exit for Valencia could be completed in a matter of hours after an update from Nacho Sanchis.

The Spanish journalist posted on X on Monday (23 December) to say the La Liga side were “optimistic” about closing a deal to take the Spaniard back home.

Los Ches will reportedly pay part of the release clause the Baggies are owed for taking Corberan away from The Hawthorns with the final fee still being negotiated.

The report also adds that Corberan has told West Brom that this is the “opportunity of a lifetime.”

“At this time there is OPTIMISM in Carlos Corberán’s entourage that everything will be closed tomorrow. VCF will pay part of the clause and a reduction is being negotiated. The coach has made it known to West Bromwich that this is an opportunity of a lifetime,” he wrote.

What does this mean for West Brom?

Although fans won’t likely want to hear it, it certainly feels like Corberan is set to seal his exit to the La Liga side imminently.

With the way the story has progressed over the last 24 hours, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind with all the updates that have been shared.

The Baggies currently sit seventh in the Championship table and are level on points with sixth-placed Middlesbrough.

While Corberan’s tactical style and man-management will no doubt be a hard thing to replace should the Spaniard exit the Black Country club, it feels like Shilen Patel and co. will have to start exploring the managerial market for their Corberan successor.

The Spaniard would of course be a huge miss around the West Brom camp but with the quality they have within their squad, they should hopefully find their feet quickly.

Of course, nothing is yet set in stone but at the moment, everything is pointing to the 41-year-old’s imminent exit.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies have received an “early Christmas gift” as two injured players returned to full training on Monday.
