West Brom fans react to Josh Maja footage in 2-0 win v Bristol City
West Brom fans waxed lyrical about Josh Maja’s performance in the 2-0 win against Bristol City on Sunday.
The 25-year-old has been urged to rediscover his goalscoring touch at The Hawthorns after stretching his barren run in front of goal to six Championship matches on 22 December as exit speculation intensifies ahead of January.
However, despite Mikey Johnston stealing the headlines with his brace in the West Midlands to move the Baggies level on points with sixth-placed Middlesbrough, Maja’s efforts did not go unnoticed by the Albion faithful.
Josh Maja struts his stuff for West Brom v Bristol City
Maja has fallen five goals behind Norwich City forward Borja Sainz in the race for the Golden Boot, but he offers so much more to the Baggies than just goals, a sentiment clearly shared with the Albion faithful.
One supporter lauded Maja as “one of the most complete strikers at baggies for a while”, and another suggested he is destined for the top flight, writing: “A certain Prem club is coming for him.”
Lewis Cox, reporter for the Express & Star, also got in among the praise for the forward, who was central to the build-up play for Johnston’s second goal that secured the three points.
“What a goal that is. What a delightful player Maja is,” he posted on X [22 December].
The Nigerian may still have to wait a while longer before he ends his poor spell in front of goal, but what he offers outside of his finishing ability is integral to the way West Brom attacks the opposition.
Maja will be brimming with confidence, with the Baggies supporters in awe of his displays, and with a favourable trip to Derby County up next on Boxing Day [26 December], he has a good chance to end his goalscoring duct at Pride Park.
In other West Brom news a Jayson Molumby contract update has emerged at the Baggies.
