West Brom receive ‘unexpected Christmas gift’ in double injury boost – BBC WM

West Brom have recieved an “unexpected Christmas gift” as both Callum Styles and Karlan Grant have fully trained with Carlos Corberan’s squad, according to Steve Hermon.

The BBC WM reporter shared via his personal X account (23 December) that while both will have to still be assessed further, they could be in line to return to action in their Boxing Day clash against Derby County (26 December).

The duo missed out on the Baggies’ 2-0 victory over Bristol City on 22 December as the game came too soon in their recovery process.

“WBA have received an unexpected Christmas gift with the news that Callum Styles AND Karlan Grant both trained fully today,” he wrote.

“The pair missed the Bristol City win with hamstring injuries & will still need to be assessed but have a chance of being fit for Boxing Day at Derby”.

West Brom could now cruise to a win against Derby

Even though Corberan’s men managed to earn all three points at The Hawthorns in their last Championship clash, the Baggies will welcome the return of Grant and Styles with open arms.

West Brom’s defence has been a particular area of concern this term due to the number of injuries they’ve suffered in that department and while Torbjorn Heggem is comfortable playing at left-back, he has been excellent in central defence too.

Hence why the inclusion of Styles is the exact sort of Christmas gift fans would have asked Santa Claus for ahead of the game.

While the Baggies were likely already heavy favourites going into their game against the Rams, if both Styles and Grant can feature, there should be no questions asked about whether they can leave their home ground with all three points.

Of course, only time will tell what happens in their game against Paul Warne’s men but at the moment, everything seems to be going the way Corberan would want it to.
