West Brom told to hire Graham Potter after manager shock at The Hawthorns
West Brom fans are in agreement that Graham Potter should be the man to succeed Carlos Corberan.
After months of speculation surrounding his future, the Spaniard is set to leave The Hawthorns after Valencia triggered his £2.8million release clause on Monday 23 December [Fabrizio Romano].
Corberan was believed to be one of the leading candidates for the vacant Southampton position [Sky Sports] but has decided to return to his hometown club and now the Albion faithful have run the rule on Potter becoming his potential successor.
West Brom supporters wants Graham Potter
Although the Albion faithful will reluctantly wave goodbye to Corberan with heavy hearts, many believe bringing Potter to The Hawthorns would soften the blow and would indeed, be the “ideal” replacement.
One supporter believes West Brom need an adventurous approach and cited Potter as the only English candidate worth considering, writing: “Need to go adventurous, a young manager preferably foreign but if not Potter, no one else and definitely not a dinosaur like Moyes.”
Potter has been out of work since his dismissal from Chelsea in 2023, and one supporter made the point that despite previous Premier League links, he would be eager to return to management: “Potter must be fed up sitting on his bum by now.”
While Corberan departs to rebuild his home town club, it is conceivable for West Brom supporters to dream that Potter would be willing to do the same in the West Midlands.
The 49-year-old is from Solihull and spent three years of his playing career at the Baggies, so a return to management in familiar surroundings could very well be a possibility.
However, the speculation is all ifs, buts and maybes at this stage, but should Shilen Patel convince Potter to return to The Hawthorns, the post-Corberan era in West Midlands will be very bright indeed.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies may have a Josh Maja transfer problem after the Carlos Corberan news.
