Andy Gray in disbelief at what Richard Keys has said about Corberan at West Brom
Andy Gray was in disbelief as Richard Keys told him about the departure of Carlos Corberan from West Brom.
The Spanish manager left the Baggies for Valencia on Christmas Day, and the beIN SPORTS pundit was surprised by the news of the change at The Hawthorns.
Gray was flabbergasted when Keys said that the 41-year-old head coach had left Albion ahead of their 2-1 loss to Derby County at Pride Park on Boxing Day.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS [26 December], the 69-year-old said: “What, he traded in West Brom for Valencia? I can’t believe that.”
Carlos Corberan instrumental to West Brom success
Corberan was instrumental to the success the Baggies enjoyed in recent years, making it to the play-off semi-finals last season.
Under the Spaniard, the West Midlands club got off to a great start in the Championship, winning five of their opening six fixtures.
The Hawthorns faithful have seen their team endure a dip in form over the last few months, but the 41-year-old made sure Albion got points off their opposition with several draws.
West Brom returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Bristol City on 22 December, but the Baggies’ first game without Corberan ended in disappointment.

Shilen Patel has a massive decision on his hands as it’s clear that Chris Brunt can’t be relied upon to take charge of the team for the rest of the campaign.
Albion are drifting further away from the top of the table and need to find their feet again at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United on 29 December to keep pace with the top six.
In other West Brom news, Uros Racic could be handed a lifeline after Corberan’s exit.
