West Brom told to hire Heitinga by Liverpool expert amid new manager update
West Brom are being urged to hire John Heitinga by Liverpool expert Declan Carr.
West Brom should appoint Liverpool coach John Heitinga as their new manager after Carlos Corberan’s departure.
The Spaniard left The Hawthorns on Christmas Day after Valencia agreed to pay the compensation clause in his contract.
Heitinga currently leads the bookmakers’ odds for the Albion job, with BettingOdds.com placing him as the 5/2 favourite to succeed Corberan.
The Dutchman is currently a part of Arne Slot’s backroom staff at the Premier League leaders and would represent exactly the type of appointment that the Baggies should make.
Why is West Brom target Heitinga highly-rated?
For starters, he has coaching experience in the Premier League, where the Baggies hope to return to, having worked under David Moyes before joining Slot at Anfield.
His preferred style of play is also a positive, the 41-year-old employed a possession-based high-pressing tactic in his interim stint as Ajax boss, where he won 14 and lost five matches.
Links to West Ham, Liverpool and Ajax would come in handy for recruitment purposes, in terms of loans and the possibility to scoop up talent from highly-rated youth academies.

In terms of the Baggies’ academy, it was evident from his stint at Ajax that he believes strongly in developing youth as a result of his upbringing in the world-famous Ajax system and would help Albion to keep their best products by offering a pathway to the first team.
He could also help to improve the first-team squad, as he has been seen engaging in one-to-one sessions with Ryan Gravenberch, a player who has turned his Reds career around, from looking like a flop to one of the best performers in the top flight this season.
It would be an exciting addition, a highly-rated young coach with a defined style of play and contacts in the upper echelons of the game.
In other West Brom news, Andy Gray was in disbelief after what Richard Keys said about Corberan’s exit.
