Caleb Taylor ready for West Brom recall ahead of January transfer window

West Brom need to quickly put the disappointment of Carlos Corberan’s exit behind them with an upcoming January transfer window.

The Spaniard had been troubled by an injury crisis at The Hawthorns before switching the roads of Birmingham for the sunny skies of Valencia earlier this month.

While Kyle Bartley has recently returned to the starting XI, partnering up with loanee Mason Holgate in Semi Ajayi’s absence, there still seems to be a lack of reinforcement in defence.

Paddy McNair’s loan spell is set to expire once the window opens, which would leave Torbjorn Heggem as the only other option, though he has now made the left-back position his own.

Therefore, the Baggies could look to recall academy graduate Caleb Taylor from his season-long loan at Wycombe Wanders six months early.

West Brom to recall Caleb Taylor in January?

The 21-year-old has massively impressed during his short spell at Adams Park, starting 16 of the Wanderers’ League One matches and even scoring his first goal for the club recently.

He has now been sent away on loan on three separate occasions and has only made 10 first-team appearances at The Hawthorns in that time, but that could change.

Age is certainly a slight issue for the Baggies, especially in defence, which Taylor could quickly solve if he were to be brought back to the Midlands from his season-long loan.

Of course, it would be a huge risk bringing in a youngster at such a vital part of the season, but if the Baggies are to claim a Championship play-off spot, they need to reinforce the defence.

Albion are unlikely to spend big in the January transfer window so a move to bring Taylor back to The Hawthorns, while frustrating for Wycombe, could solve a lot of problems for his parent club.

In other West Brom news, Jayson Molumby will be petrified of who’s been tipped to replace Carlos Corberan.
