Mark Robins to seek West Brom assurances as new manager hunt begins
Don Goodman has identified Russell Martin and Mark Robins as two viable options for West Brom in their bid to find a successor for Carlos Corberan.
The Baggies will be working overtime to find their next managerial appointment with their chances of promotion in mind.
John Heitinga has emerged as favourite for the job but several other candidates will be considered with Goodman highlighting some of the potential successors exclusively to West Brom News.
Goodman said: “People will mention Mark Robins, really sad the way it turned at Coventry for him. People will mention Steve Cooper. I’m talking about sort of those names because potentially they’re realistic.
“Russell Martin has just left Southampton, again, proven pedigree at the Championship level. So, there are credible candidates out there. But the flip side of any relationship is it takes two and there has to be a desire on both sides.
“Some of those names that I’ve just mentioned may look at West Bromwich Albion, may need reassurances about what the ambition is, what the investment is going to be in the playing side of things, how much control they would have in terms of recruitment. So, there’s a lot of water under the bridge.”
West Brom need to get the next appointment right
Corberan’s departure certainly left a sore feeling at The Hawthorns and that is a testament to the incredible work he did while at the club, taking the Baggies from the relegation zone to potential promotion candidates.
However, West Brom cannot afford to let all of his hard work get undone by a poor managerial decision nor can they afford to let this uncertainty drag on for too long.

Heitinga has been highlighted as a solid candidate for the job but if that is the route the Baggies opt to go down, they need to act fast or face the prospect of having their season unwrapped right before their eyes.
The coming weeks will provide a telling factor into how ambitious the ownership is at the club and it will undoubtedly be a nervous wait until an announcement is made.
