John Heitinga: Top Liverpool journalist shares West Brom update
West Brom face an uphill battle to appoint Liverpool coach John Heitinga as their new manager, according to Paul Joyce.
The report in The Times claims that the Reds are keen to keep the Dutch coach despite interest from the Baggies.
Albion are searching for a new head coach after Carlos Corberan left to return to Valencia on Christmas Day.
Reds coach Heitinga has emerged as the bookmakers’ favourite to take over from the Spaniard at The Hawthorns and a Liverpool expert has urged the club to hire him.
West Brom may be forced to look elsewhere
The question is, can the Baggies tempt the former Everton defender to leave his role with the Premier League leaders?
They need to ascertain Heitinga’s level of interest quickly so that they can move on if he is not willing to leave Anfield in the middle of the season.
Former Coventry manager Mark Robins has been mentioned as a potential Corberan replacement and links to former Birmingham manager John Eustace have also emerged. [DOOD via WestBromXtra on X, 28 December]

Former Sky Blues boss Robins has a record of working within tough financial constraints and took the club from League Two to a Championship playoff final in a matter of seasons.
Meanwhile, Eustace was harshly sacked at Birmingham but has rebounded at Blackburn Rovers, with his side currently in sixth place in the second tier.
Those two may be better options than Heitinga who does not have experience in the Championship and would be a left-field option.
In other West Brom news, Corberan sent a message to the club as he was appointed as Valencia boss.
