
Russell Martin meeting revealed as West Brom new manager details emerge
West Brom held conversations with Russell Martin and his agent over a “telephone meeting” on Saturday, according to DOOD.
The reliable Baggies insider reported via X (29 December) that the West Midlands outfit are sounding out “a lot of agents” to find who is interested in the vacant head coach position, with Martin’s representative among those who have been contacted.
However, the former Southampton boss informed the Championship club he was not interested in the role after he was told the contract details and what would be expected of him.

Albion have been without a head coach since they confirmed Carlos Corberan’s move to Valencia on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, 24 December).
Several managers have been linked with a move to The Hawthorns since, with Shilen Patel determined to give the “tremendous” opportunity to the appropriate person [X].
DOOD revealed on Sunday (29 December) morning that West Brom have lined up talks with Steven Schumacher and Luke Williams.
Liverpool first-team coach John Heitinga has also been linked with the vacant head coach position, although it would be hard to prise him away midway through the season [Paul Joyce via The Times, 28 December].

Mark Robins, meanwhile, is ready to take a new job, with The Hawthorns named as a potential destination, according to TBR Football.
With several names in the mix, it appears the Baggies are prepared to take some time before they zero in on their preferred candidate.
