West Brom fans destroy Diakite after what he did v Sheff Utd – ‘Chaos merchant’
Ousmane Diakite was subjected to torrents of abuse on social after his mistake led Sheffield United to take the lead against West Brom on Sunday.
While some supporters chose to see the positive sides of the midfielder’s display during a 1-1 draw with the Blades at Bramall Lane on 29 December, many could not see past his glaring error.
Diakite’s dreadful touch in the middle of the park was pounced upon by Chris Wilder’s side before Andre Brooks fired under Alex Palmer for the opener, with fans taking to social media to voice their frustration.

One supporter dubbed the 24-year-old “absolutely shocking” and asked for him to be substituted while another labelled him a “chaos merchant”.
A third fan asked whether Diakite’s transfer to The Hawthorns was permanent, with another calling him nothing more than a “bench sitter”. It’s fair to say, many are already sick of him.
Without Alex Mowatt in the squad, thought to be sidelined with a new injury worry [DOOD], the set of temporary coaches had little choice but to trust the rarely-seen midfielder.
There were some positive reviews of the midfielder’s general display, but with such a crucial mistake being made early in the game, the negatives seemed to outweigh the positives.

Uros Racic could have been given his 10th league start of the campaign, but he has also failed to impress during his loan spell and could see his deal terminated early [DOOD].
Diakite can only gain more valuable experience with time on the pitch, whether that is as a West Brom player or away on loan, but he is never going to be flawless with just two starts to his name.
Of course, the moment is extremely frustrating, having given the Blades the lead, but Karlan Grant’s equaliser certainly helped soften the blow at Bramall Lane.
