Chris Wilder interview with Sky takes bizarre turn after West Brom draw – watch

West Brom salvaged a point at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United on Sunday as Chris Wilder made his feelings clear during his post-match media duties.

The Blades manager, speaking live on Sky Sports [29 December, 14:36pm], emphasised the strength in depth he believed Albion to possess compared to a youthful bench he named for his own side.

Wilder even drew on his teamsheet during the live interview to deliver his point, going through the substitutes caretaker boss Chris Brunt had at his disposal for the 1-1 draw.

“By the way, they’ve got some really good players. Did you see some of the players they were bringing on the pitch? [John] Swift, [Grady] Diangana, all those boys. Proper footballers. [Lewis] Dobbin… have I missed any?” he declared.

“Let’s have a look, I’m just having a look here. Our youth team; then Dobbin, Paddy McNair, Devante Cole. So, some good players there. We were running on empty.”

West Brom aim to appoint new boss before next outing

Wilder shared the sideline with Brunt and his interim staff for the lunchtime clash in South Yorkshire, but this could be the final time the Albion icon takes the team.

However, the Baggies appear in no rush to appoint a successor to Carlos Corberan and want to go through their thorough process to get their first choice over the line.

Albion received compensation from Valencia to buy Corberan out of his contract at The Hawthorns, giving the club more financial power to be able to bring in the right candidate.

The board are not shy, either. Candidates shortlisted appear to include Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace and Swansea City chief Luke Williams.

West Brom are next in action on 1 January against Preston North End back on home turf.
