Samuel Iling-Junior tipped for shock West Brom move amid Aston Villa update

Bryan King believes West Brom could look to agree a deal with Aston Villa to take Samuel Iling-Junior on loan in January.

The ex-Villa scout was speaking exclusively to Villa News (31 December) after Jacob Tanswell reported via The Athletic (29 December) that Unai Emery’s side were considering recalling Iling-Junior from his loan spell at Bologna.

King believes that several top Championship clubs, including the likes of Middlesbrough and the Baggies, could all show an interest in the 21-year-old, who isn’t the only Villa ace to be linked with a surprise move to The Hawthorns ahead of January.

West Brom to target Aston Villa forward Samuel Iling-Junior?

A few dominoes have to fall into place before the Baggies could even think about bringing Iling-Junior to the Hawthorns in a move which would certainly address recent questions about the club’s ambition. First and foremost, Villa need to recall the forward from his loan spell at Bologna.

However, considering Iling-Junior is yet to start a Serie A match for the Italian side, it seems almost guaranteed that he will return to the West Midlands in January.

What must also be considered are the finances involved in any such deal. However, Bologna are hardly a European financial heavyweight, which should offer the Baggies some encouragement in any potential pursuit.

If Villa really want to find another club for Iling-Junior to join on loan, they might consider subsidising the 21-year-old’s wages, which would make a deal more affordable at The Hawthorns.

And should all these conditions fall into place, Iling-Junior would be a brilliant addition at West Brom, especially considering the club’s struggles going forward this season.
