West Brom v Preston North End postponement latest after Met Office update
West Brom’s match with Preston North End at The Hawthorns is not at immediate risk of being postponed amid the latest update from the Met Office.
Albion, who have seen another reported managerial candidate plucked by a Championship rival, are due to play host to Preston in the Championship on Wednesday (1 January).
Much of the United Kingdom is set to be battered by high winds and heavy rain on New Year’s Day, including the West Midlands.
However, as per the Met Office’s latest update on Tuesday (31 December), the weather warning is currently only yellow.
That could lead to travel disruption and flooding in the area, but the weather is not likely to be extreme enough to impact the game in any way.
West Brom record v Preston North End
Albion could do without any games being called off, so this latest update is very much a positive. That said, heavy wind and strong rain could make for difficult conditions on the field.
Supporters ultimately just want to see their side come away with victory on the back of a creditable 1-1 draw against Sheffield United, after which Chris Wilder was involved in a bizarre moment.
The uncertainty over the next manager continues, while certain names continue to be linked with a January exit, but credit to the players for battling to that point at Bramall Lane.
This is a game Albion enter as favourites, sitting as they do seven points above Preston in the Championship, while their recent record in this fixture is also very strong.

The Baggies may have been held 1-1 at Deepdale in November, but they won the previous three against Preston and are therefore unbeaten in four.
Three points will be the target in this latest encounter which, depending on results elsewhere, could be enough to lift Albion back into the top six where they will hopefully then stay.
