Josh Maja has hailed Chris Brunt for bringing a "new lease of life" to West Brom during his period as interim manager after Carlos Corberan's departure.

Brunt has overseen three Baggies games so far, leading them to a loss, a draw and most recently a win over Preston North End on Wednesday (1 January).

Albion are looking to appoint a new permanent boss who could be in charge as early as Saturday (4 January) for a trip to Swansea City with their manager Luke Williams one of the names on the list.

However, Maja doesn't seem to be in any rush to appoint a new boss as he praised the interim management team and said to the official West Brom X account: "It's been great.

"I think they've bought some fresh ideas and a new lease of life, a bit of confidence.

"Obviously it's not easy to change managers during the season but I think the boys have done well to manage that and I think we've done well to compete in the games we've played in.

"So yeah, testament to them for coming in and bringing confidence bringing, like I said, a new lease of life and hopefully we can continue to compete and bring more victories for the team."

Chris Brunt doing well at West Brom

After a brilliant 3-1 win against Preston North End, there has been plenty of praise for the interim boss with some supporters even suggesting he is worth hiring on a permanent basis.

There were concerns after the departure of Corberan given how well he had done with the Black Country outfit but the team have managed the transition period well.

The hierarchy at The Hawthorns will be eager to get a new boss in as soon as possible, allowing the new manager to have influence over the January transfer window which will be vital for how the Baggies do in the second half of the campaign.

Williams of Swansea is one of the names linked with the vacancy with talks said to have taken place between his agent and Albion [DOOD, 2 January] but whether the boss will make the move is yet to be seen.

With Maja back in goal-scoring form with two under his belt against Preston, it is no wonder he is enjoying his time under Brunt and the interim management staff.
