West Brom new manager: John Heitinga decision confirmed by agent

Liverpool coach John Heitinga will not be the next West Brom manager, his agent has told De Telegraaf.

Speaking to the news outlet [4 January], the Dutchman’s agent, Rob Jansen, has revealed that his client is not open to becoming the next Baggies head coach as he will see out the season at Anfield.

Heitinga had been linked with The Hawthorns hotseat, but he’s not concerned about the noise around his future.

Liverpool also want to start talks with Heitinga about possible contract extensions in the coming weeks, it is claimed.

John Heitinga will not succeed Carlos Corberan at West Brom

It looks like the Reds’ assistant coach will not be succeeding Carlos Corberan, who left for Valencia at the end of December.

The 41-year-old was an established centre-back during his playing career and has amassed immense experience in management after retiring.

After spending time in the dugouts of Ajax and West Ham United, the Dutchman joined Arne Slot’s team at Anfield.

Chris Brunt has temporarily taken charge of West Brom and has done a steady job, most recently seeing his side beat Preston 3-1 on New Year’s Day.

The results against Derby County and Sheffield United could have been better, though, and the Northern Irishman needs to ensure Albion remain in and around the play-offs spots before the new head coach arrives.

Corberan took massive strides at The Hawthorns after his appointment and got excitement back to the West Midlands outfit.

Shilen Patel has a massive decision on his hands as the Black Country club look to get back into the Premier League.

In other West Brom news, fans of Los Che were blown away after Corberan’s first game at the Mestalla.
