West Brom new manager: Progress made as front runners identified

West Brom have “made progress” as they search for a new manager to replace Carlos Corberan, according to the Express & Star.

The news outlet reports (7 January) that the Baggies have narrowed down the potential candidates to succeed the Spaniard, who joined Valencia during the festive period.

While the frontrunners to lead the Black Country outfit have been identified, their names are unknown.

West Brom need to appoint new manager soon

The Hawthorns faithful have witnessed their team have a mixed record since the interim appointment of Chris Brunt in the dugout.

Against Derby County on Boxing Day, the Northern Irishman lost his first game in charge of the West Midlands club.

The Baggies put in improved performances against Sheffield United and Preston in the Championship but were underwhelming in the 1-1 draw against Swansea on Saturday (4 January).

Corberan took massive strides at West Brom, taking them to the play-off semi-final in the previous campaign.

The Spanish manager left the Black Country club in and around the top six before moving to Los Che, and The Hawthorns faithful expect another fruitful season.

As things stand, The Albion are sixth in the league table but are only one point ahead of Balckburn Rovers, who have a game in hand.

Shilen Patel needs to expedite the appointment of the new boss and restore stability to the team as they seek to return to the Premier League.
