Raphael Wicky hire: West Brom interview goes well, he really wants Hawthorns job

Raphael Wicky wants the manager job at West Brom after positive talks with the Black Country club, according to DOOD.

The Baggies insider reported on 8 January that the 47-year-old has had an interview with Albion which “went well”.

The former Young Boys manager is said to “really want the job” at The Hawthorns and is now waiting to see how the recruitment process pans out in the West Midlands.

Raphael Wicky wants West Brom job after interview

There is a desperate need for a manager in B71 after losing Carlos Corberan to Valencia nearly three weeks ago.

Chris Brunt has done an excellent job since coming in on an interim basis but if the Black Country club want someone else in the dugout, they need to move more swiftly.

With the January transfer window well underway, whoever the new manager maybe is missing out on an ideal time to shape his squad ahead of the second half of the season.

If that does prove to be Wicky, there is every chance that he wants to make some changes while also being keen not to lose any potentially key starters.

The Swiss head coach appears to be sold on the idea of becoming the manager of the Baggies and will want that deal to be sorted as soon as possible.

With there being multiple irons in the fire for head coaches at The Hawthorns right now, it will certainly be interesting to see who comes in and whether Wicky gets his wish.

In other West Brom news, Rene Hake has now entered talks to take over as manager.
