West Brom fans rage at ‘Horrendous’, ‘Shocking’ new manager update

West Brom fans aren’t sold on the idea of Rene Hake taking charge as manager at The Hawthorns.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 8 January that the Baggies are in talks to potentially hire the former Manchester United coach.

The 53-year-old is one of three candidates linked with taking over from Carlos Corberan after his departure to Valencia in December.

It is safe to say that this development hasn’t gone down well with supporters at The Hawthorns who are unsure about their potential new head coach.

West Brom fans fuming with Rene Hake development

It is safe to say that Chris Brunt has impressed since taking over on an interim basis but it appears that the hierarchy in the West Midlands wants a new manager.

That could prove to be Hake despite him having little to no experience as a head coach outside of the Netherlands.

With that being said, one fan has taken to X (8 January) who has compared the ex-Go Ahead Eagles boss to other names linked to The Hawthorns.

They said: “No thanks, his record and experience is nothing compared to Wicky and Fischer.”

Another described the 53-year-old’s managerial record as “shocking” given that he has only ever managed a win rate of over 40 per cent once in his 15-year career [FotMob].

One supporter was fuming with the potential decision, lashing out by saying: “Embarrassing. Shouldn’t even be under consideration. Would be a ridiculous appointment.”

Other fans have been slightly more reserved despite not being sold on the ex-Manchester United coach with one saying: “Not too sure about this.”

Another has described Hake as “terrible” in a one-word reply which almost sums up the general feeling around the potential new manager in B71.

In other West Brom news, a £5m bid has been accepted by a Championship rival for a January transfer.
