West Brom fans think Jed Wallace is signing for Hull as transfer news emerges

West Brom supporters have taken to social media to try and piece together a transfer rumour from Hull City, potentially concerning a player at The Hawthorns.

Many Baggies fans believe experienced statesman Jed Wallace is the unnamed player referred to by Hull City News on X (8 January), who have shared Hull Live’s claim (8 January) that the Tigers have agreed a fee for a winger.

Wallace has been a fringe player at The Hawthorns this term, having made a combined 95 appearances across the past two full seasons.

Jed Wallace to leave West Brom for Hull City this month?

Wallace is an experienced leader in the squad and it may alternatively be the case that instead of selling the 30-year-old now, West Brom wait to see how their new manager may utilise him both on and off the pitch.

However, the board will also be eager to recoup funds on players while they can, with Wallace’s lack of sustained game time this season serving to dwindle his market value.

The former Millwall and Portsmouth ace is under contract with Albion until the summer of 2026, though several supporters on X who believe it is Wallace linked to Hull are hoping so.

One even called him a “pants” player with whom the Baggies should “get rid”, while another cited his wages as a reason to “get him off the books” after criticism he has faced for his performances.

Conversely, one fan pointed out the respect that should be paid to Wallace, branded the “most professional footballer [they] can think of”.

Wallace may seek a new chapter in his career in the belief he has plenty more years in the tank to offer, while West Brom are looking to mould their squad for a hardened top-six challenge.

It remains to be seen whether Wallace is in fact the player for whom Hull have reportedly agreed a fee towards signing.

In other West Brom news, talks begin for a new contract for a key operator at The Hawthorns.
