Tony Brown shares what West Brom coach told Mason Holgate during Bournemouth tie
Tony Brown has revealed what West Brom coach Damia Abella told Mason Holgate during the FA Cup clash against Bournemouth.
The Baggies took the lead early on against the Premier League outfit through Caleb Taylor, nine days after returning from his loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers.
Just moments before Taylor’s strike, first-team coach Abella was spotted by Brown on BBC Radio WM (11 January) telling Holgate to support his young centre-back partner.
The Albion legend said: “Just looking at Abella there, he’s telling Holgate to keep talking to the young lad alongside him, Caleb Taylor. That’s good that is. Good instructions.
“That’s what you want when you’re younger and you’re in a team. You need the experienced players around you to help you out.”

The young centre-back came in from the start against the Cherries as Chris Brunt named a Baggies side featuring multiple changes.
Despite having a fresh look to the side, the away side took the lead on the south coast thanks to the 21-year-old before eventually suffering a 5-1 defeat.
Despite this heavy loss, there was plenty to appreciate about his early performance at the Vitality.
Taylor did have some shaky moments and it was important that Holgate made his presence felt and let the youngster know he was there consistently throughout the cup clash.

It is hugely positive to see Abella and the Albion coaching staff pick up on this and make sure to remind the Everton loanee of his duties.
This is just another plus point of the interim team, who look set to return back to their usual roles when a new manager is appointed at The Hawthorns.
