Rene Hake is back as the new favourite to become West Brom manager after talks with Raphael Wicky ended on Monday.

Although a deal to appoint Wicky looked set at The Hawthorns, talks immediately ended on 13 January after the Swiss manager was unable to assemble his preferred coaching staff (John Percy).

As a result, Hake is now the front-runner to replace Carlos Corberan in the Black Country, with BetVictor boosting his odds straight to 2-1.

Newly out-of-work Sean Dyche is 3-1 to be appointed while Steven Schumacher is also in the running with odds of 4-1.

West Brom go back to the drawing board

Baggies fans will be gutted about the news of a deal with Wicky falling through, as they finally looked set to have a new manager after Corberan left just before Christmas.

Chris Brunt and the interim staff have done a good job with the Albion so far and look to have a few more games ahead of them due to this setback but those at The Hawthorns will be hoping a new permanent appointment isn't far off.

Hake has already spoken to the club about the job so there may be hopes that a deal could be reignited and finalised quickly, if that's the route Shilen Patel wishes to go down (VI).

Dyche and Schumacher are also interesting names on the list and both are managers out of work which should speed up any process.

It could also make it cheaper, with Hake now seemingly one to watch after his recent exit from Manchester United.
