West Brom told chances of Sean Dyche hire after latest Hawthorns twist

Don Goodman does not think West Brom are attractive enough to lure Sean Dyche into taking the vacant managerial role at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies were left shell-shocked after a deal for Raphael Wicky to become the new manager collapsed [John Percy] as a result of his backroom staff being unable to obtain a visa.

The news leaves the Baggies still searching for Carlos Corberan’s successor, with Dyche having already been approached by the play-off chasers [DOOD], but Goodman – speaking exclusively talking to West Brom News – cannot see it happening.

“The problem with Dyche, are West Brom attractive enough for someone as well-established as him?” Goodman said.

“I’m not so sure. Dyche, if he did drop into the Championship, would likely be looking at a team capable of challenging for automatic promotion and West Brom aren’t at the current moment.

“Dyche will probably be looking for assurances on finances and I’m just not sure how attractive they are.”

West Brom need to be realistic in their manager search

Dyche, having just been sacked from a Premier League job, seems a highly unlikely figure to be willing to drop into the Championship to join a side-chasing play-offs.

That, added to the fact he’s likely to be on big wages, just makes it seem like a complete no-go for the Baggies but stranger things have happened.

There would be little doubt over whether Dyche would do a good job at The Hawthorns, although the football would certainly become a tough watch given his time at Everton and Burnley.

If pursuing a move for Dyche is to be the case, it could just be wasted time for the Baggies with it again just seeming like a completely unrealistic appointment.
