Tony Mowbray to West Brom: Doctor update drops after Wicky breakdown

Tony Mowbray could now be back in contention to become the new West Brom manager, according to WBA Report.

The 61-year-old is set for a doctor’s diagnosis this week on health issues and could be in line for a return to The Hawthorns if given the green light.

Mowbray is said to be interested in the role (Alan Nixon), with Rene Hake, Steven Schumacher and Sean Dyche also set for possible talks.

It all comes after Raphael Wicky’s expected appointment broke down on 13 January (John Percy).

Tony Mowbray to West Brom?

This would be sensational news and immediately lead to celebrations.

Shilen Patel has not got much wrong since his takeover was confirmed at The Hawthorns last year, and this would be another big green tick.

It has been said that Mowbray is set for the all-clear after his cancer diagnosis, and that could lead to a deal being ironed out relatively soon (The Sun).

With Wicky now not in contention for the role, it appears that all roads could lead to Mowbray.

The veteran manager has admitted he wants a return to football, and there would be nowhere better than doing that with the Baggies.

Dyche, Hake and Schumacher represent interesting options, but all three would be blown out of the water if the fans had any say on this appointment.

First of all, everyone will wish the green light and full health for Mowbray before any decision, with that far more important than football.

In other West Brom news, a rival Championship club made an approach to sign this Baggies star.
