West Brom new manager: Albion in talks with agent of ex-Wolves defender

West Brom have made contact with the agent of ex-Wolves defender Rob Edwards with a view to becoming the new manager at The Hawthorns, according to DOOD.

The Albion news source posted on X (14 January) with an update regarding the managerial search to succeed Carlos Corberan, after a breakdown in advanced talks with Raphael Wicky.

It is now understood the Baggies have spoken to the representatives of Edwards, who has just been dismissed by Luton Town, along with updates having been delivered on both Sean Dyche and Tony Mowbray.

“Dyche happy enough on holiday doesn’t want to go back into a job so soon. I think we can rule him out, also on a great salary,” DOOD shared.

“West Brom have spoken to Rob Edwards’ agent to see where he stands.

“Waiting on results from Mowbray hopefully tomorrow we have news.”

West Brom could turn to former Wolves man

West Brom are looking intently on replacing Corberan, for whom it has now been three weeks as Valencia’s new boss while Abion remain in search.

Wicky looked to be the man arriving at The Hawthorns but for a late collapse of the arrangement, considered to be due to differing views over backroom staff.

Edwards earned promotion to the Premier League with Luton after joining the Hatters in 2022, but following last season’s relegation had struggled to turn the tide at Kenilworth Road, leading to his dismissal.

The former Watford and Forest Green Rovers boss was for a long time an established player at Wolves during his days on the pitch – he represented West Brom’s bitter rivals for over four years, making 111 appearances.

Mowbray cannot yet be ruled out having last managed Birmingham City, while Dyche was only dispensed with by Everton last Thursday (9 January) and appears to be taking some time away.
