West Brom are unlikely to hold formal talks with Sean Dyche to become their next manager, according to West Brom Xtra.

The online source posted on X (14 January) that The Albion got in touch with the representatives of the former Everton boss, but it's unlikely to advance past that stage.

Dyche is currently on holiday after being relieved of his duties at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche arrival will not excite West Brom fans

Having someone like the former Burnley head coach in The Hawthorns dugout would undoubtedly not excite fans one bit.

For a fanbase who have seen their team progress after Carlos Corberan took over from Steve Bruce, it would be a step in the wrong direction to hire Dyche.

The 53-year-old wasn't the most popular person at Goodison Park due to his defensive set-up, and that could well be the case at the Black Country outfit as well.

West Brom fans enjoyed the football under Corberan, for the most part, and they hope to return to the Premier League shortly.

With the Spaniard's departure, Bilkul Football have had to arguably rip up their plans in search of a long-term managerial appointment.

While Dyche did well during his tenure at Burnley, his stint at Everton wasn't encouraging, leaving them one point above the relegation zone before his exit.

With the 53-year-old evidently out of the race, it remains to be seen who will finally take over from Chris Brunt on a permanent basis.

The Albion have some important fixtures coming up against Stoke and Middlesbrough as they look to cement their place in the top six.

A new manager can't come soon enough.
