West Brom told what must happen amid Jed Wallace to Blackburn Rovers latest

West Brom News Speaking to Don Goodman

West Brom News is delighted to have Don Goodman joining its team of Albion experts at the start of 2024. Goodman played for the Baggies between 1987 and 1991, scoring 60 goals in 140 league appearances to make him one of the most prolific strikers in Hawthorns history. Goodman also played for Bradford, Sunderland, Wolves, Motherwell and Walsall in his career and since hanging up his boots, he's been working in the media with Sky Sports. Now, Don has agreed to join West Brom News and we're absolutely thrilled to share his expertise on the Baggies every week.

Don Goodman believes an exit for Jed Wallace will be dependent on whether West Brom can bring in attacking reinforcements this winter.

Hull City are said to have made an approach for Wallace [DOOD], with an air of uncertainty regarding his future at The Hawthorns.

Pundit Carlton Palmer, meanwhile, has suggested a move to fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers would make sense [Football League World].

Wallace has struggled to stake a claim for a place in the starting 11 at Albion but Goodman, speaking exclusively to West Brom News, explained how his exit may only be sanctioned if the Baggies can bring players in.

"It's probably dependent on who comes through the door," said Goodman.

"I think they'd have to be signing a player for those forward areas before allowing somebody like Jed Wallace to leave.

"Look, he hasn't had the game time that he would hope for this season. There's no doubt about it. But even though he hasn't had the game time, I'm pretty sure he would be a positive influence in that dressing room.

"So losing a player like that, it's not ideal, but I can understand certainly from Jed Wallace's point of view that he would want to go and play more football elsewhere if that's an option for him."

West Brom need to make moves in transfer window

The Baggies are yet to complete a signing of their own, with much of that potentially down to the managerial uncertainty.

Given the fact they are without a head coach, they may not appear particularly attractive to targets.

If they are indeed to wait for arrivals before sanctioning exits, they could end up with disturbed morale among the squad, and that would have a telling impact on the remainder of the season.

West Brom simply need a resolution to the manager saga before they are able to focus on other priorities.
