West Brom next manager: Odds slashed on favourite after bombshell update
Tony Mowbray looks set to become the new West Brom manager after a bombshell update, according to the bookmakers.
On Tuesday night (14 January), Bet Victor placed the 61-year-old at 5/2 odds to become Carlos Corberan’s successor, which have now dropped below evens to 1/2.
This comes after the bombshell news that the Baggies could return to the idea of hiring Mowbray following failed moves for Raphael Wicky and Rene Hake [Adam Drury], having admitted he could be ready to come back [Bernie Slaven YouTube].
The former Baggies manager is awaiting test results on his health issues, and if he were to be given the green light, a return to The Hawthorns could be on the cards this month [WBA Report].
West Brom fans on board with Tony Mowbray return?
Raphael Wicky looked set to take over at The Hawthorns until his move collapsed, with his backroom staff unable to obtain visas [DOOD].
Since then, Rob Edwards, Erik ten Hag and Sean Dyche have all emerged as potential candidates to succeed Corberan, though no official decision has been made.
Chris Brunt continues to lead from the dugout, with some supporters suggesting a permanent deal for the former player could be an ideal solution to their lengthy manager search.
And just like the Brunt ideas, some fans are unsure about Mowbray’s return to The Hawthorns after 16 years away from the club, mainly due to his health problems and time spent away from the game.

Of course, he has been recovering since being diagnosed with bowel cancer last February, seeing him step away from his role at Birmingham City shortly after.
It is an incredibly tough decision for Shilen Patel and the boardroom to make, but if the bookmakers are to be believed, Mowbray is a dead cert to become the new West Brom manager.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies have been handed a huge boost ahead of their Championship encounter with Stoke City.
