West Brom ‘to sell’ Jed Wallace to rival club, reinvest money into squad
West Brom ace Jed Wallace has been backed by Carlton Palmer to complete a move to Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
The 30-year-old is a genuine target at Ewood Park in the winter transfer window, and John Eustace could have a clear path to complete the signing after initial reports that Hull City enquired for the forward [DOOD] have since gone quiet
It appears the choice facing Blackburn is between Wallace and Leeds United number 9 Patrick Bamford, but Palmer urged Rovers to choose the Baggies man in a conversation with Football League World [15 January].
He said: “I think Jed Wallace is a more realistic signing from West Bromwich Albion. He is their club captain, he’s out of the picture at the moment and he wants to play regular first-team football.
“I can see the Baggies looking to move him out and using that money to bring in other players. He’s not had any game time at all, so that makes more sense.
“He’s fit, he’s proven at Championship level, and I think he would be a good bit of business if they were able to bring him into the football club.”
West Brom should sell Jed Wallace to Blackburn Rovers
Although every West Brom player will be granted a fresh start once a new manager is appointed at The Hawthorns, Wallace’s spell is coming to an end.
While club captain, he has accumulated only 459 minutes of Championship action this season across 20 outings, only three of those being starts.
With the plethora of attacking talent in the wide positions at Albion, it is hard to envision Wallace being allowed the necessary game time to turn around his fortunes in the West Midlands.
Furthermore, the Baggies will be forced into the winter transfer market after news emerged star striker Josh Maja will be sidelined for “the next few weeks”.

Wallace would undoubtedly entertain a move, and West Brom need the influx of cash to fund a short-term solution to the striker conundrum.
Shilen Patel is willing to listen to sanction a sale should a suitable offer arrive, and it is now up to Blackburn to decide whether they are willing to make a move before the window slams shut on 3 February.
