Chris Brunt to axe Alex Mowatt in five changes – West Brom predicted XI v Stoke

Chris Brunt could make five changes to his West Brom starting XI as they gear up to face Stoke City on Saturday.

Alex Mowatt is one of the first names who could be forced to take a seat on the sidelines after a less-than-impressive outing in their 5-1 defeat to Bournemouth in the third round of the FA Cup.

In his place would likely come Jayson Molumby with others such as Alex Palmer, Torbjorn Heggem, Kyle Bartley and Jed Wallace all in contention to come in.

This would mean that Uros Racic, Mason Holgate, Caleb Taylor and Joe Wildsmith would all likely miss out.

Chris Brunt will need to change his West Brom team up massively

The Baggies’ last outing came in the FA Cup which is where there’s likely to be plenty of changes made to the team.

Palmer will no doubt come back into the side and re-take his number one spot as he has done all season.

The defence is where we’re likely to see the first changes, however, with both Darnell Furlong and Calum Styles keeping their roles while Holgate and Taylor will be dropped for Heggem and Bartley.

As Brunt chose to play a slightly different formation against the Cherries, he’ll likely go back to his regular formation which will see Wallace, and Molumby both make a return to the centre of the park with Swift the only one keeping his place.

On either flank will be Tom Fellows and Grady Diangana, with Brunt unlikely to change that duo.

Last but not least, leading the line will be Karlan Grant due to the absence of Josh Maja due to injury.

Only time will tell whether the Baggies have enough quality to beat the Potters on Saturday but on paper, it looks like they could field a fairly strong side.
