Mowbray set to bring ex-West Brom man back to The Hawthorns with him
Tony Mowbray will be accompanied by Mark Venus in his backroom staff as he looks set to become the next West Brom manager, according to Lewis Cox.
The Express & Star journalist revealed on his personal X account (17 January) that the English head coach’s long-term “lieutenant” will join him at the Baggies.
There’s optimism that an agreement with Mowbray can be reached in the coming hours to succeed Carlos Corberan in The Hawthorns dugout.
West Brom finally find new manager in Tony Mowbray
Venus has been with Mowbray for several years now, having been together since their time at Hibernian in 2004.
The 57-year-old was also Birmingham City’s assistant head coach before Mowbray stepped down due to health issues.
After spending several days looking for one, the Black Country club seem to have finally found their new manager.
Many fans were surprised to learn of Corberan’s departure, but the Spaniard’s decision to accept the job at Valencia was understandable.
Chris Brunt has taken charge of West Brom recently and has had a mixed record, albeit they are still within reach of the top six.

The Albion sit seventh in the Championship table, a point behind Middlesbrough, and a win over Stoke City on Saturday (18 January) will be crucial.
Supporters hope to finally make it back to the Premier League after making the play-offs semi-final in the previous campaign.
If the Black Country club can negotiate a deal, Mowbray will return to The Hawthorns after his stint in the mid-2000s.
Fans are undoubtedly excited about the prospect of having the 61-year-old back.
In other West Brom news, Mowbray could be announced as the new manager before the Stoke fixture.
