West Brom finalising Mowbray deal, hire should be done in 24 hours
West Brom will appoint Tony Mowbray as their new manager in the next 24 hours, according to Ben Jacobs.
The GiveMeSport correspondent has revealed on his personal X account (17 January) that the Baggies are finalising a deal with the 61-year-old head coach after recent discussions.
Mowbray resigned from Birmingham City last year due to health issues but has now been given the all-clear to return to management.
The Englishman is set to return to The Hawthorns dugout 16 years after previously taking charge.
Tony Mowbray appointment exciting for West Brom fans
Mowbray’s return will undoubtedly excite The Albion faithful, as he’s highly thought of among the fans.
The 61-year-old won promotion to the Premier League during his previous spell at the West Midlands club, and there will be expectations that something similar will happen this time around.
While the English manager could not keep the Black Country outfit in the English top flight for long, his attacking brand of football was impressive.
Under Carlos Corberan, the Baggies had a pragmatic approach to games and often struggled to score goals consistently.
West Brom have found the back of the net 13 times at home in the current campaign, albeit a strong defensive record has accompanied it.

The Hawthorns faithful would arguably like their team to be more ruthless in the second half of the season, which the new manager must ensure.
Mowbray will need the decisiveness of his potential attackers at The Albion to keep the team’s hopes of promotion alive.
The Baggies are currently seventh in the Championship and face a tough test against Stoke City on Saturday (18 January), which the English manager could likely be in the stands for.
In other West Brom news, supporters have been blasted for their “unfair” criticism of Mason Holgate.
