Grady Diangana ‘ready for West Brom redemption’ as sensational footage emerges

West Brom supporters have become increasingly frustrated by Grady Diangana but that could all be about to change.

The 26-year-old has been a shell of his former self this season, only contributing two assists in 18 Championship appearances, albeit only six of those coming from the start.

In comparison to his seven goals and eight assists from the 2023/24 league campaign, there is no wonder why fans at The Hawthorns have been surprised by his lack of impact so far.

However, with Tony Mowbray now coming into the club, Diangana could be given a new lease of life to earn his redemption after his stellar performance against Stoke City on Saturday (18 January).

Following Nathan Lowe’s 9th-minute striker for the visitors at The Hawthorns, the Dominican Republic of Congo international, trusted as a striker on this occasion, stepped up to the plate.

Diangana netted with his only shot of the game, maintaining a 100 per cent shot accuracy, hitting the back of the net with an xG of just 0.15 [FotMob].

Despite playing an isolated role through the middle, he kept his composure with a 92 per cent passing accuracy while creating two chances and made six passes into the final third.

Just from his attacking impact at The Hawthorns, Diangana absolutely deserved the Man of the Match award, but his display went so much further than just scoring the equaliser.

As showcased in the clip above, the 26-year-old completed 67 per cent of his attempted dribbles, leaving the Stoke players in his dust, before charging towards their penalty area.

While he was dispossessed on one occasion, Diangana cannot be judged for trying anything to push his team further up the pitch and get them back into the clash after going one goal behind.

With 100 per cent of his tackles won and a 71 per cent win rate in ground duels, he was a menace in Chris Brunt’s final match in charge as interim boss, and what a way to announce himself to the new head coach.
