West Brom transfer breaks down, plug pulled minutes before kick-off
Ali Al-Hamadi’s proposed move to West Brom has broken down, according to East Anglian Daily Times.
The newspaper reported via its website [21 January] that the 22-year-old’s move to The Hawthorns this month now looks unlikely after joining the Tractor Boys for £1million last January.
It is understood, as per WBA Report, that Al-Hamadi completed his medical on 21 January, with only an official announcement awaiting for Albion, but the Tractor Boys have now reversed their decision on the player’s exit.
The search for a new striker continues.
West Brom to miss out on new striker signing?
While Karlan Grant and Grady Diangana are two very talented forwards, both of whom have scored many goals during their careers, the injury blow to Josh Maja is massive.
The 26-year-old had netted 12 goals in 26 Championship appearances before sustaining his newest injury, and with Daryl Dike still yet to return from injury, a new striker is imperative this month.
Albion have drawn far too many matches during the 2024/25 campaign, with Preston North End the closest team with 13 to their 15 stalemates.
Of course, the Baggies are now in a new era under Tony Mowbray, but unless a new forward signing is greenlighted at The Hawthorns, it could be a tricky few weeks until Maja is fit again.

While Al-Hamadi has been unable to make much of an impact for Ipswich, scoring just five times in 27 games since last January, his record previous to that speaks for itself.
Notching 27 goals in 48 games during just one year with AFC Wimbledon, the Baggies absolutely would have improved with him darting through the middle, but that no longer looks to be a possibility.
It would be a rather disappointing transfer window if no new faces were to come through the doors.
In other West Brom news, Grady Diangana is ready for redemption at The Hawthorns as sensational footage emerges.
