West Brom finances for Isaac Price revealed by Sky Sports journalist
West Brom have paid over £2.5million to sign Isaac Price from Standard Liege including bonuses, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Sky Sports Switzerland journalist posted on his X account (22 January) to deliver the news of the fee paid by the Baggies to secure Price, who left Everton for Belgian side Standard in 2023.
Price flew to the UK earlier this week to complete his switch to The Hawthorns, having been a regular performer in the Belgian Pro League where his former side are marooned in seventh place.
Tavolieri shared: “As revealed, West Bromwich Albion has just made official the arrival of Isaac Price from Standard Liège who receives €3million (£2.54million) (bonus included), as well as a percentage of the capital gain in the event of a future sale.”
West Brom secure Isaac Price signing
Following West Brom’s announcement on Wednesday afternoon (22 January), Price is now officially a Baggies player.
The Northern Ireland international becomes Tony Mowbray’s first signing back in charge at The Hawthorns, with the manager having admitted the squad needs strengthening for the promotion bid.
Price is a midfielder by trade and has only scored one goal in his fledgling club career, but has remarkably netted six times in 18 full caps for his country, including a hat-trick against Bulgaria in a Nations League clash last October.
Mowbray can now list the 21-year-old in a midfield selection pool which includes Alex Mowatt, Jayson Molumby, Ousmane Diakite, John Swift and Uros Racic.
Price joins an Albion side who have just slipped out of the play-off places following Tuesday night’s (21 January) defeat at Middlesbrough.
His only senior English football outings so far have been via three appearances for Everton as a teenager, including two in the Premier League.
In other West Brom news, why signing this potentially available Chelsea star is a “no-brainer”.
