West Brom new striker signing detailed as £2.5m deal confirmed

West Brom have turned their attention towards signing a new striker after announcing Isaac Price’s acquisition, according to The Express & Star.

The newspaper reported via their website on Wednesday (22 January) the fee for Price’s signing from Standard Liege is £2.5million, with Andrew Nestor finally getting one of his long-term targets.

Meanwhile, the Baggies are prioritising the signing of a new centre-forward between now and the transfer deadline on 3 February.

West Brom want new striker after Ali Al-Hamadi deal collapse

This is not an ideal situation for Tony Mowbray’s side as they thought they had already found the striker they were looking for.

On Tuesday (21 January), it emerged that West Brom are set to sign Ali Al-Hamadi on loan from Ipswich Town [West Brom Xtra].

It was said that the Iraq international was already at Albion’s training facility to undergo a medical and finalise the transfer.

However, in a sudden turn of events, Ipswich-focused journalist Stuart Watson revealed that the deal has collapsed.

The Baggies wanted to sign Al-Hamadi on a permanent transfer, but have seemingly cooled their interest in the striker after the transfer fell through.

It remains to be seen who Mowbray’s side will target next after seeing a transfer collapse at the 11th hour.

Meanwhile, fans may get a glimpse of new signing Price when the West Midlands outfit host Portsmouth at The Hawthorns on Saturday, 25 January.

Will Albion have made progress in their bid to sign a new number nine by then is anyone’s guess.
