Mikey Johnston ‘absolute menace’ in West Brom win v Portsmouth
West Brom star Mikey Johnston was an “absolute menace” in the 5-1 win over Portsmouth on Saturday, Rob Jones has said.
The 25-year-old was involved in the fifth goal when he drove past two Pompey defenders and John Swift smashed a deflected effort home at The Hawthorns.
The Republic of Ireland international left Jones stunned with his exploits in the contest as he constantly threatened against the relegation strugglers.
Speaking on Sky Sports (25 January, 16:16 pm), he said: “Mikey Johnston has been an absolute menace on the West Brom left today.
“He takes two players with him every time he drives into the box.”
Johnston can kickstart West Brom season
The Irish ace has struggled to have an influence this season with just two goals and four assists in 24 Championship matches.
The former Celtic winger scored seven goals in the second tier last campaign in just 18 appearances in a magnificent loan spell.
However, he has had an inconsistent season after his permanent move with just 15 starts out of a possible 29 in the league.

The Albion ace was touted as a potential casualty of the managerial chaos at The Hawthorns after he regained his place in the starting line-up under Carlos Corberan.
He could play a vital part in the Baggies race for a playoff place if he can kick on after a fantastic display against Pompey.
Tony Mowbray will be delighted if he can establish himself as a key weapon for the Midlands club as he seeks to take them back to the Premier League
