Mowbray loves what he’s seen of West Brom ace who wasn’t on his radar – ‘Wow’
Tony Mowbray has loved what he has seen of new West Brom signing Isaac Price even though he admits he wasn’t on his radar when he returned to The Hawthorns.
The Baggies completed a £2.5million deal to sign the Northern Ireland international from Standard Liege this week (Express & Star).
Mowbray, who recently returned to take over as Baggies boss for a second spell, confessed the 21-year-old – who came through Everton’s youth ranks – was not a player especially well known to him but he has been wowed by what he’s seen on the training pitch.
In quotes reported by the Daily Mirror’s print edition (25 January, football pull-out pg 6), Mowbray said: “Before I walked in he wasn’t on my radar. From what I’ve watched and trained with him yesterday he looks a very talented boy.
“The proof of the pudding will be on the grass. He will be in the squad at the weekend. He looks like a good player. Your eye is telling you ‘wow’.”
West Brom may have a gem in Isaac Price
Baggies supporters could get their first glimpse of Price when they welcome Portsmouth to The Hawthorns on Saturday (25 January).
The 21-year-old was a regular for Liege in the Belgian Pro League and will be desperate to showcase his talents in English football again having made a couple of Premier League appearances with the Toffees.

From Albion’s point of view, Price adds another option in midfield and they will hope he can contribute to helping West Brom reach the play-offs once again.
Mowbray’s early assessment sounds positive but, as the gaffer says, it will be what he does on the pitch that really counts for Baggies fans.
