Daryl Dike set for sensational West Brom return, may be in squad v Sheff Weds

Daryl Dike could be on the bench for West Brom in their game against Sheffield Wednesday, according to DOOD.

The West Brom insider shared on X (26 January) that the striker is close to returning and could be on the bench by the game against the Owls on 8 February.

The 24-year-old has suffered with some bad luck over recent times and hasn’t featured for the Baggies since 10 February last year when he ruptured his Achilles tendon.

Daryl Dike set for West Brom return

After a tough period on the sidelines for Dike because of some awful bad luck with injury, the news that he could be returning after nearly a year out is really positive.

Furthermore, with Josh Maja having been hit by an injury, Albion could certainly do with some attacking reinforcement as they look to fill his hole in the squad.

The 24-year-old has 16 goals in 48 Championship appearances so if he can get back to full fitness, he will no doubt be a great boost for Tony Mowbray’s side as they look towards a top-six finish this term.

It’s been a long road to recovery and the Baggies will surely be conscious about rushing him back too soon with his recovery the most important thing.

However, this is an exciting return at The Hawthorns and should serve as some optimism for West Brom’s efforts in the second half of the season.
