Ian Pearce reveal: Mowbray shares ‘behind-the-scenes’ West Brom transfer update
Tony Mowbray has revealed that Ian Pearce and Andrew Nestor are working to complete new signings at West Brom before the end of the winter window.
The Baggies have already been active in January, bringing in Isaac Price from Standard Liege in a deal worth over £2.5million [Sacha Tavolieri].
It doesn’t appear that business is done for the winter after what Mowbray revealed in a post-match interview after the win against Portsmouth on Saturday (26 January).
Speaking to ITV Football, he said: “I think we are working hard behind the scenes. Again, if you put it into context, I’ve been a week in the building. I don’t go in and stamp my feet and tell them this is what I want.
“There’s a lot of work already gone on. The sporting director and head of football operations are working really hard with their staff. I’m there to support really.”
Tony Mowbray reveals Ian Pearce work at West Brom
The signing of the Northern Ireland international looks terrific, especially after a positive debut, but can’t be the only deal of the window if promotion is a realistic aim.
Despite scoring five against Pompey, the Baggies need a striker after Josh Maja suffered a frustrating injury earlier in January.
With that being said, the Albion faithful can be optimistic that a new forward option will be assessed by Pearce and Mowbray as the window heads towards its closure.
Deadline day is on 3 February, giving the director of football just over a week to complete any deals to boost the new manager’s squad.
